Logo Research

The rolling stone logo contains no icon and is focused around the font and colour used. The red text surrounded by white and black is not just something present it in this logo, NME and DJ Mag also have these features. The magazine does not just stick to one genre, and therefore the font does not need to match a certain genre, however the font does fit the time in which this magazine began, 1967.

The NME logo features a similar red text surrounded by white and black, however the font is very different. This magazine also crosses multiple genres, however they became closely associated with punk rock, therefore the branding may have shaped to match this genre. The abbreviation is the main focus of the font, with the full name underneath, as the abbreviation itself is far more well known than the full name.

DJ Mag does not show it's full name as the main focus of the logo, the red text just says "DJ", with the website DJMAG.CA written inside. The Canadian flag has been used in the J, localizing this magazine to a specific country. The website is being shown to immediately give the audience the idea that most of their content is focused around their online work, and not magazines.
